2010
Following the principles of user-centered design, we prototyped a new way to search for books in libraries that takes advantage of multi-touch technology.
Leaving aside the visual design, we focused on creating personas, interviewing users and experts as well as on the creation and testing of a paper prototype.
During the research process, we were able to highlight two user scenarios: an explorative, browsing-oriented search, and an academic-oriented search. We choose to focus on the latter.
Our multi-touch concept was based on a faceted navigation and used innovative data visualizations like treemaps or timelines. During the user tests, it showed potential to replace desktop-based solutions.
